Nail Technician Curriculum Breakdown:

320 Hours – Foundation & Industry Essentials
Dive into the fundamentals of nail technology with engaging lessons on nail anatomy, product chemistry, salon safety, and sanitation. You’ll also explore Texas regulations, hygiene protocols, client communication, and the do’s and don’ts of running a successful nail business. This part of the program builds your technical knowledge and professional mindset to thrive in today’s nail industry.

280 Hours – Creative Skills & Real-World Practice
Get hands-on with the tools of the trade—from shaping and polishing to acrylics, gel systems, dip powders, and advanced pedicure techniques. You’ll also learn to design stunning nail art, perform nail repairs, and provide spa-style services that leave clients glowing. Practice with live models under expert guidance to build confidence and precision.

Nail Technician Curriculum Breakdown: 600 Hour

40 Hours – Bacteriology, Disinfection, Sanitation and Safety
Covers hygiene protocols, proper sanitation practices, and client safety procedures essential in nail services.

60 Hours – Nail Structure, Composition, Disorders and Diseases
Explores the anatomy of the nail, its composition, and common disorders and diseases affecting nail health.

160 Hours – Manicuring and Pedicuring (Includes waxing or other nonpermanent hair removal)
Hands-on training in natural nail care, spa manicures and pedicures, and basic waxing or temporary hair removal techniques.

160 Hours – Artificial Nails
Covers acrylics, gels, and other nail enhancement systems, including application, fills, and safe removal techniques.

60 Hours – Nail Art
Creative instruction in nail design, patterns, embellishments, and advanced artistic techniques.

80 Hours – Establishment Development
Includes training in business administration, professional ethics, legal compliance, insurance, client relations, advertising, and salon management.

40 Hours – Board Rules, Regulations and Statutes
Familiarization with Texas state laws and TDLR rules governing nail technology and salon operations.

Upon successful completion of this 600-hour program, students are eligible to take the TDLR Manicurist licensing exams. Graduates will be equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue a career as a licensed nail technician in Texas

Written & Pratical

Class attendance and participation are mandatory. Students will demonstrate their competency in theory and practice through mannequin repetitions and clinic activities. Instructions will be supplemented with visual aids, student presentation and other techniques. Although instructions and assignments may vary based on program requirements, students must maintain a theory grade average of 70% and pass a final written and practical exam prior to graduation. Numerical grades are considered according to the following grade scale:

Very Good

79-70

Satisfactory

69-Below
